                                             Both evenings

Miles Dewey Davis III (1926 - 1991) is considered one of the most influential
and innovative musicians of the 20th century.     Born in the St. Louis area he graduated  from
East St. Louis Lincoln High School in 1944.  By the age of 17 he was playing with the noted jazz group
Eddie Randle's Blue Devils.  Following graduation from high school, Davis
moved to New York City to study at the Julliard School of Music.  He acknowledged that, in addition to greatly
improving his trumpet playing technique, Juilliard helped give him a grounding in music theory that would prove
valuable in later years.  The rest of the story is well known jazz history.

It is only fitting that Miles Davis' birthplace honors one of its most famous and influential prodigies with a
festival honoring his amazing achievements in the  field of music..

Please consider joining us in the celebration.
This year we have an outstanding line up of the finest musicians of our times.  Over the two nights featured will be:

                          Randy Homes - trumpet
                          Paul Demarinis - sax
